Description

Meat and fresh produce, with a spicey tang from south of the border, how can you go wrong?

Ingredients

  • 2 1⁄2 lb ground beef
  • 1 head of lettuce
  • 3 small tomatoes
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 1⁄2 packets of water
  • 1 avocado
  • 1⁄2 lb shredded cheese
  • 1 cn sliced olives

Instructions

Take ground beef and brown in a pan on medium heat. Meanwhile, dice the tomatoes and chop the lettuce and cut the avocado into serviceable chunks. Shred the cheese.

Once meat is browned, drain the grease. Then replace on the stove and dump the seasoning on the meat, then, using the packet as a cup, pour in 1 and one-half packets of water into the meat. Olives can be poured in at any time, unless you want them cold. Place heat on medium and stir in the seasoning until it is everywhere throughout the meat. Let the meat sit there and boil off that water, all the while soaking up the taco seasoning. Stir occassionally.

When there has been a significant decline in the amount of water with the meat (or when you're just too fucking starved to care) turn the heat to 'Simmer', wait 2 minutes and begin to serve.

Makes: 5 GOOD tacos

Notes

I find a good taco is prepared like an engineering project. I find that, in this order, is the best layering technique: Lettuce, cheese, meat, tomatoes, sour cream, hot sauce (Tapatio for me). Then roll it like a burrito. Serve with a margarita or a good beer and, mmm, manufique!!
